Welcome to my new blog- PRESS On! The title describes what I do in my spare time as a Stay at home mom. I currently make fun and custom stationery. I started out with stationery as most of us did -with my wedding invitations. I printed my own and loved how they came out. I haven't looked back since! That was in 2001. Now my stationery is heading in a new direction and that is with letterpress. I love the feel of letterpress stationery. It may be as simple as a few lines or as ornate as a backdrop design with several lines of wording. The outcome is elegant and somewhat understated. My journey with letterpress began with an Adana No.2 HS 5x3 tabletop letterpress. Then I moved up to a Craftsman 8x5 tabletop press. Now we were getting somewhere, but it was still limited progress. I finally found what is now the main worker at Mainliner Press- a 105 yr. old Golding Pearl #11 Improved platen press! I fell in love with her instantly! We scooped up the kids and made the 2 1/2 hour drive west to a little stationery and letterpress shop in Berkely Springs,WV. (http://www.writtenword.invitations.com/) After almost 4 hours of taking her apart we were finally on our way back to her new home in Fredericksburg,VA.
